Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno Salahuddin said the country's tourism sector had begun to rise and made Indonesia one of the countries whose tourism conditions were able to survive during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to him, even though Indonesia is in a challenging situation, there are several opportunities that can be used for the revival of national tourism.

"I give the greatest appreciation to all parties who continue to collaborate to revive archipelago tourism, as well as increase industrial resilience which was strongly hit during the pandemic," Sandiaga said in the webinar "New Paradigm of Indonesia Tourism Industry Trend 2023" with Tiket.com online, Tuesday, December 13.

He also mentioned that the birth of a new paradigm in the tourism sector, namely Digital Acceleration, Local Before Global, and Metaverse-Era, could produce important synergy to revive the Indonesian tourism industry.

"We continue to support 3G-based programs, namely GERCEP (Quick Movement), GEBER (Joint Movement), and GASPOL (Garap All Potentials) to create jobs. Let's improve similar collaboration in 2023, all targets can be achieved as long as we continue to collaborate by inviting all other parties to jointly focus on developing key programs in 2023," Sandiaga explained.

Referring to the summary of Tiket.com collaboration data with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, there are three favorite destinations for people to travel domestically, namely to Jakarta, Surabaya, and Medan.

The number of Indonesian outbound tourism has also increased with an increase in orders of 81.8 percent and a pax of 90.9 percent.

Domestic flight tickets have also increased from 2020, which illustrates that consumer behavior tends to be stable.

On the other hand, according to BPS data from May 2021 to May 2022, the staycation holiday is still a solution that is of interest to the public in spending their time off, so that the occupancy rate of star-rated hotel rooms has increased by 49.85 percent.

This trend is also reflected in Tiket.com data, where villas and apartments are increasingly in demand along with the increasing trend of staycation.

The number of orders is known to have doubled from before the pandemic to 204 percent, with three cities being the people's favorite destinations in conducting staycations, namely DKI Jakarta, West Java, and East Java.

This shows that the level of public confidence in traveling or traveling has begun to recover in a more positive direction, along with the decline in COVID-19 cases in the country.

On the same occasion, Tiket.com Co-Founder & Chief Marketing Officer, Gaery Undarsa, said that his party was optimistic that the Indonesian tourism sector would continue to experience growth.

"Kami di Tiket.com berkomitmen untuk berperan aktif dalam menjaga ekosistem pariwisata sehingga terus bertahan dari berbagai tantangan yang mungkin hadir di 2023, serta di saat yang sama berkembang dan bersiap untuk peningkatan animo pariwisata," ujarnya.

"In addition to launching various promo programs that aim to increase public interest in traveling, we also continue to synergize with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to support various Government programs, especially empowerment programs for tourism business actors and research-based programs, so that recovery efforts and growth of the tourism industry can be achieved more solidly," he concluded.
