He Killed 10 Workers, The Ombudsman Made Sure To Carry Out An Investigation Regarding Mining Burst

Member of the Indonesian Ombudsman, Hery Susanto, revealed that his party would investigate the coal mine explosion belonging to PT Nusa Alam Lestari in Sawahlunto, West Sumatra, which killed 10 mining workers.

Hery said that at this time his party had not received public reports regarding the case, but he ensured that his party would continue to investigate.

"If there is a report, we will accept it and we will process it. Even if it is not, we will order the local Ombudsman to conduct an investigation," he said at a press conference regarding Systemic Studies regarding Manpower and Mining Business Permit Policy in Jakarta, Monday 12 December.

He added that his party would certainly respond if there were reports from the public, but otherwise his party would continue to coordinate with the Ombudsman of West Sumatra.

"The Ombudsman can respond if there are no reports, even if this doesn't happen because it happened in West Sumatra, we will coordinate with the Ombudsman of West Sumatra," he concluded.

As previously reported, on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 08.50 WIB, an explosion occurred in the DC number 02 hole of the underground coal mine PT Nusa Alam Lestari, which is a Coal Mining Business Permit Number SK IUP OP No.570/1338-Periz/DPM-PTSP/VII/2020, dated July 6, 2020, Sawahlunto City, West Sumatra.

The explosion occurred at the beginning of the work shift where there were already 14 mining workers in the mine pit. On December 9, 2022 at 17.50 WIB, the evacuation process was successfully carried out on the 14 people, of which 3 mining workers suffered minor injuries, 1 mining worker suffered burns and has been handled at the Sawahlunto City Hospital, 10 mining workers were declared dead.
