Sambut IKN Nusantara, Wulandari Bangun Laksana Pentacity Hotel

JAKARTA - Along with the plan to move the State Capital to the archipelago in East Kalimantan, PT Wulandari Bangun Laksana Tbk (BSBK) believes that the Balikpapan Super Block area, known as the BSB area, is increasingly in demand by various groups, both for housing and investment. The company takes advantage of this momentum to develop the Balikpapan Superblock area, one of which is by completing the construction of the Pentacity Hotel.

According to Tjia Daniel Wirawan, Operations Director of Wulandari Bangun Laksana, the launch of the Pentacy Hotel, which is BSBK's newest hotel, was carried out on Thursday, December 8, 2022. The Pentacy Hotel, which has room number 176, offers the best sea view in Balikpapan City.

This hotel is supported by different and unique 4-star hotel facilities such as the Marquee On 7, namely the first beach club in East Kalimantan. The facilities on the 7th floor of the Pentacity Hotel are also equipped with a wedding chapter and a sunken bar and a Lagoon Grill Restaurant.

"The PENTacity Hotel is located in the Balikpapan Super Block (BSB) area which consists of the two best shopping centers in Balikpapan City, namely E-Walk & Pentacy Shopping Venue," said Tjia, in an official statement, quoted on Friday 9 December.

Tjia said, with the presence of the Pentacity Hotel, it increased the number of existing hotels, namely 5-star hotels at the Balikpapan Grand Jatra Hotel, 4-star hotel Astara Hotel, and 2-star J-Icon hotels with rooms in the Balikpapan Superblock area to 782 rooms. To note, the Balikpapan Grand Jatra Hotel recorded occupancy rate growth from 53.69 percent in the third quarter of 2021 to 78.12 percent in the third quarter of 2022. This 5-star hotel has 215 rooms. The Balikpapan Grand Jatra Hotel is equipped with facilities such as swimming pools, gyms, spas, Belagio Restaurant, J.Cuve lounge bars, Ballrooms and has Meeting Rooms with a capacity of up to 375 pax.

The Astara Hotel occupancy rate grew positively by 53.69 percent in the third quarter of 2022 compared to 31.43 percent in the third quarter of 2021. Meanwhile, the Astara Hotel has 346 rooms, located above the Pentacy Shopping Venue. The Astara Hotel is also equipped with various facilities, namely Aquaboom, which is the largest waterpark in Balikpapan, AQVA Restaurant and Palm Bar & Lounge and has 5 meeting rooms with a space capacity of 125 pax each.

The increase in the occupancy rate of the Grand Jatra Hotel Balikpapan and Hotel Astara was driven by several factors. Apart from the decline in the number of COVID-19 in Balikpapan City, it is also due to the development of the Nusantara IKN which is close to the city of Balikpapan. This makes a positive contribution to the economy of the city of Balikpapan.

Based on the Competitor Report Data issued by each hotel, competitors as of November 30, 2022 showed that the Grand Jatra Hotel was ranked first and the Astara Hotel was ranked second out of all five-star hotels in Balikpapan.

"The company is increasingly convinced that with the opening of the Pentacy Hotel there will be an increase in the number of guests who will use room facilities and other facilities. This will bring a multiplier effect for business actors, employees and visitors to Balikpapan Superblock, which will ultimately improve the performance of the Company," added Tjia.
