PT Pertagas Niaga started the flow of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to support the operation of the Refinery Unit (RU) V Refinery, Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.

This LNG flow is an effort taken to meet the energy needs of RU V Balikpapan gas before the Balikpapan-Sempah gas pipeline network operates and is a follow-up to the gas buying and selling agreement signed in August 2022 between PTGN and PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI).

President Director of PT Pertagas Niaga Aminuddin explained that his party supplied LNG obtained from the Filling Station Plant 26 in Bontang and transported to Balikpapan. The LNG flow with volume 2 MMSCFD is projected to run for the next year in collaboration with transportation partner PT Patra Logistik.

"Thank God, finally the flow of LNG to RU V can run smoothly. In addition to supplying gas to support refinery operations, the flow of gas is also a form of strengthening synergy in Pertamina's internal environment," Aminuddin explained to the media, Friday, December 2.

Meanwhile, RU V Balikpapan KPI stated that this flow had a big contribution from one of the national vital objects.

"LNG regasification at RU V is a tangible form of implementing the AKHLAK value system, namely harmony and collaboration, namely between SH Gas and SH R&P, especially the Commercial Pertagas with PT KPI RU V. This gas distribution helps the operation of RU V when the supply of natural gas existing suppliers decreases," said GM RU V Balikpapan Arafat Bayu Nugroho.

Just so you know, the distribution of LNG is an alternative to meeting gas energy needs in areas that have not been connected to the gas pipeline network to encourage the acceleration of energy equality.

Pertagas Niaga since 2015 has been a pioneer in the supply of retail LNG in Indonesia which began in the East Kalimantan region.

Currently, PTGN's LNG supply is spreading to Sumatra, Java, Bali and Sulawesi, both to meet the needs of factories, hospitals, hotel, restaurant and power plants with a total supply volume of 300,000 MMBTU/month.
