PT PLN (Persero) presents the first Mandiri Electric Bank (ALMA) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to support fishermen's operations at the port. ALMA with a power of 23,000 Volt Ampere (VA) is located at Wuring Port, Sikka Regency.
General Manager of PLN NTT Regional Main Unit Fintje Lumembang said the construction of ALMA will support the fisheries and marine sector in Maumere. ALMA can reduce the operational costs of fishermen in loading and unloading marine products at ports.
"ALMA is PLN's innovation in the field of Electrifying Marine which is a manifestation of the transformation of PLN pillar Customer Focused in order to improve electricity services that are easier, more affordable and reliable for fishermen," said Fintje to the media, Monday, November 28.
In addition to facilitating fishermen, he continued, the presence of ALMA at Wuring Port is part of PLN's efforts to encourage a clean energy transition and reduce carbon emissions.
"The presence of ALMA can support operational cost efficiency for ships docked. Both fishing vessels, tourism vessels, and others so that they can have implications for improving the economic wheels of the surrounding community," he said.
Sikka Regent Robby Idong appreciated PLN's efforts to present ALMA at Wuring Port. With this initiative, PLN took the opportunity to use electricity which was once supplied by a generator.
"With the help of PLN, today we can use electricity. We as local governments, according to the President's instructions, are committed to developing local cultivation such as fish which certainly need support from an energy perspective," explained Robby.
He continued, with the presence of ALMA, fishermen will be greatly helped in terms of decreasing operating costs by 70 percent so that it will have a big impact on the welfare of the community.
"The presence of this ALMA can save operational costs, and PLN's innovation is the answer. We hope that PLN will continue to cooperate with the Sikka Regency Government to boost the community's economy," he said.
Not only that, PLN is also intensifying Electrifying Agriculture to support the agricultural sector in NTT.
Many dragon fruit farmers in North Central Timor Regency (TTU) feel helped by the electricity from PLN which is able to accelerate the growth of dragon fruit.
"We appreciate the agileness of PLN not only at ports, but also in new insights such as lighting lights for agriculture in TTU, abundant dragon fruit. We ask for PLN's support so that our farmers in Sikka can also be more productive," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Sikka, Lalu Wahyu Efendi, said that the Basarnas ship had already benefited from ALMA. Basarnas ships anchored can significantly save operational costs.
"When using diesel, it can be up to 3,000 liters per month or the equivalent of Rp. 50 million. Meanwhile, when using ALMA, the price range is only Rp. 14.8 million. This of course saves operational costs," he said.
Later, PLN will continue to intensify the Electrifying Marine program by replacing the needs of port energy sources that have been dependent on generators.
Now ships that dock or dock can use PLN electricity to facilitate people in their economic activities at ports.
