JAKARTA - PT Industri Jamu and Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO) moved quickly in response to the earthquake that occurred in Cianjur, West Java. The company distributed aid of IDR 500 million for victims of natural disasters in the area in the form of a number of products from Sido Muncul and rice.

Director of Sido Muncul, Irwan Hidayat, said that the assistance was deliberately given to ease the burden on victims of natural disasters in Cianjur. An earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitudes has claimed hundreds of lives and damaged many residents' houses.

"Hopefully it will recover quickly, the total amount of donations is Rp. 500 million," said Irwan, in his statement, quoted on Thursday, November 24.

The assistance consists of Tolak Angin Liquid 60 cartons, Tolak Angin Liquid Sugar Free 30 cartons, Tolak Angin Anak 30 cartons, Tolak Linu Herbal 30 cartons, Kbe Wine Vit C 30 cartons, Vit C 1000 Lemon 100 cartons, Estemag 30 cartons, Kopi Jahe 100 cartons, Jahe Wangi 50 cartons, STMJ 50 cartons, Alangsari RTD 50 cartons with a total of Rp 440 million. In addition, Sido Muncul also distributed 5 tons of rice worth Rp60 million.

The assistance will be received by Brigadier General Rudy Saladin, MA who currently serves as Commander of Korem 061/Surya Kencana and then immediately distributed to the number of evacuation posts in Cianjur.

Irwan said the assistance was deliberately distributed through the TNI because they and a number of other volunteers were better aware of the terrain in Cianjur. Later, the TNI will also distribute aid to a number of refugee posts in Cianjur.

Not only that, said Irwan, a number of these products were deliberately given to simplify the distribution process. So, victims of natural disasters can directly and quickly feel the assistance provided.

"Aid in the form of products. In the form of money, assistance must be spent very much. Even though TNI officers, police, district government, and volunteers are busy. So that assistance (products) like this can only be handed over," concluded Irwan.
