ISA And JSMEA Hold The Indonesia-Japan Business Matching Forum 2022

JAKARTA - Indonesian National Shipowners (INSA) together with the Japan Ship Machinery and Equipment Association (JSMEA) held the Indonesia-Japan Business Matching Forum 2022 in Jakarta, Thursday (17/11/2022).

At least 200 national shipping entrepreneurs will be met with the engine manufacturer and equipment of the ship from the country of America.

"In this business forum, members have the opportunity to improve their network and at the same time meet directly with Japanese manufacturers," said DPPINSA Chairman Sugiman Layanto to the media crew on the sidelines of the event.

According to Sugiman, by meeting directly with manufacturers who have been supplying machinery and various ship equipment, it is possible for Indonesian ship entrepreneurs to get competitive prices with high product quality. In addition, continued Sugiman, national shipping industry players are also exploring the procurement of environmentally friendly ship engines.

"The global trend, including Indonesia, in the future is more environmentally friendly in industries to reduce exhaust emissions. Moreover, the Indonesian government has set net zero emissions in 2050," said Sugiman.

"Some experiments are already running. Some use methanol fuel and ammonia," said Sugiman.

Chairman of JSMEAKinoshita Shigeki said the Business Matching Forum was the third time it was held in Indonesia.

"The goal is to strengthen the collaboration of the shipping industry between the two countries. Moreover, Indonesia is a very important market for the ship's engine industry in Japan.

"Many Indonesian ships use engines from Japan, especially tugboats, ferries, and others," said Kinoshita Shigeki.

Regarding decarbonization, Kinoshita Shigeki explained that Japan is currently testing hybrid ship engines or dual engines to make them more environmentally friendly. The forum presents Director, International Affairs Office, Shipbuilding and Ship Machinery Division, Maritime Bureau Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Mr. Maeda Takanori as the keynote speaker with the theme For Enhancement of Cooperation between Japan and Indonesia in Maritime Sector.

Kemudian juga akan hadir Koordinator Industri Maritime, Direktorat Industri Maritime, Alat Transportasi dan Pertahanan, Kementerian Perindustrian RI Andi Komara.Narasource lainnya adalah Ketua Umum Indonesian National Shipowners Association Sugiman Layanto yang mepresentasikan tema Present Market and Future Prospect of Indonesia Shipping Industries.

Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Ship and Offshore Industry Companies (IPERINDO) Anita Puji Utami who presented the theme Present Market and Future Prospect of Indonesia Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries.

JSME is a non-profit body founded by companies engaged in manufacturing, repair and sale of marine propulsion machines and various additional ship engines such as pumps, air compressors, oil cleaners, heat exchanges, cargo and crane mooring, anchor cranes, deck cranes, steering gear, navigation aids, equipment and accessories.

Currently, JSMEA has a total of 244 regular corporate members and 75 supporting member organizations. (As of July 2022).

The activities of the JSMEA organization include conducting various research related to business and technology administration in the ship's engine industry and activities that promote ship engine industrial products to international markets and other activities such as connecting or coordinating with other trade associations related to shipbuilding and shipbuilding.
