JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno estimates that as many as 5,000-10,000 good quality jobs will be created thanks to the presence of 400 Small and Medium Micro Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Lombok Sumbawa Fair (LSF) in West Nusa Tenggara.

The event is a series of activities in the World Superbike (WSBK) event, on 11-13 November 2022 at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit, NTB.

"The number of MSMEs present compared to last year has increased significantly. In WSBK 2021, only 50 MSMEs were recorded and this year there were 400 MSMEs and 140 tenants," said Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno in his official statement in Jakarta, Tuesday, November 15.

The majority of MSMEs involved came from NTB and several other areas, such as North Sumatra and Bali. The LSF also presents music, culinary, and fashion performances.

Sandiaga said support for MSMEs was a form of government alignment, considering that MSMEs in Indonesia contributed greatly to economic growth to reach 7.5 percent and contributed 2.5 billion US dollars.

Based on the plan, continued Sandiaga, the LSF will not only be held during WSBK 2022, but will continue in the MotoGP event next year.

The aim of the LSF is none other than to create jobs and reduce the unemployment rate in NTB which was affected by the pandemic. We hope that the support from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy can create a concrete impact in promoting our creative economy products and MSMEs can host their own country," Sandiaga explained.

In addition to WSBK, Sandiaga said, there are many more sports tourism activities that are expected to make NTB a province that will quickly revive its economic sector after the COVID-19 pandemic.

There will also be various festivals, both music, culinary, and fashion. World Superbike not only sees matches, but contributes to the local economy, opens businesses and jobs, so that the unemployment rate continues to decline," he concluded.
