JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono appreciated South Korea's plan to participate in building a clean water system in the State Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago.

"We appreciate South Korea's plan to participate in building a clean water supply system at IKN Nusantara," Basuki said in his statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, November 15.

He added that the initial construction plan will begin in 2024, but the Ministry of PUPR hopes that the process of drafting the detailed technical plan can be accelerated, so that installations can begin to be built in 2023.

Basuki expressed his hope that the Government of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) could actively support the preparation until the implementation of the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) which will be held on 18-24 May 2024 in Bali.

Previously, according to him, on November 10, 2022, the signing of the Framework Agreement 10th World Water Forum between the Government of Indonesia and the World Water Council (WWC) was carried out.

"We will work closely because the preparation time is less than 2 years. We hope the Republic of Korea can actively participate in helping us in the preparation of the 20th World Water Forum," said Basuki.

Previously, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono and Korean Environment Minister Han Whale Jin signed the Joint Statement on the Green Transition Initiative in Nusa Dua, Bali on Monday (14/11/2022) as part of the G20 Summit.

The joint statement is a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Green Infrastructure Development which was signed on March 15, 2022, in Labuan Bajo.

This green infrastructure collaboration includes water resource management and the provision of clean water, construction of energy efficiency buildings, eco-smart cities, as well as identification and infrastructure for climate change mitigation and adaptation.
