BALI - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated funds for handling the pandemic or Financial Intermediary Fund (FIF) in a series of G20 Summit events in the middle of this month.

According to Jokowi, the current health infrastructure condition has not been able to balance the damaged power caused by the pandemic.

"The current world health architecture cannot handle the pandemic," he said online as broadcast in Nusa Dua, Bali on Sunday, November 13.

For this reason, the head of state stated that the presence of a pandemic fund is expected to be a solution for all countries in increasing the capacity to handle health issues in the future. "Every year the world needs around USD 31.1 billion to finance the health system and efforts to prevent the pandemic," he said. The President ensured that all countries have the potential to utilize this funding source to be able to solve health problems in their respective countries. "By saying Bismillah Hirohman Nirohim, I launched pandemic funds today," said President Jokowi.

For information, the Task Force has successfully formed a Pandemic Fund (Pandemic Fund) on September 8, 2022, and until now, more than US$1.4 billion in financial commitments have been announced by 24 state donors and 3 philanthropy.
