PT Hutama Karya (Persero) targets the construction of the Semantok Dam, which is located in Nganjuk Regency, East Java, to be completed by the end of 2022.

Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary Hutama Karya Tjahjo Purnomo said that the Semantok Dam has many benefits such as reducing flooding with the pattern of reservoir operations, which has been happening in the North Nganjuk area, serving the irrigation needs of 1,900 hectares of rice fields, providing 312 liters/second of raw water, and maintaining rivers downstream of the 30 liter/second dam.

"Not only that, this dam will also become a new tourist destination to drive the regional economy and also become environmental conservation," said Tjahjo in his statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, November 11.

The Semantok Dam is a dam project undertaken by Hutama Karya PT Bangun Nusa and collaborates with PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) (Abipraya) (Pelita).

The Semantok Dam construction project is carried out in four work packages, with packages 2 and 4 carried out by KSO Hutama Karya-Bangun Nusa with a work scope covering the dam body, dam instrumentation, to the dam peak road.

"Hutama Karya also carries out reducing channel work in the form of cash, main insurance work, hydromechanical work, spillway work, to substation work and dam landscape arrangement," he said.

Tjahjo added that the Semantok Dam was able to accommodate a water storage volume of 32.67 million m3, a dead reservoir of 4.1 million m3, and a normal reservoir of 22.4 million m3.

"Meanwhile, the volume of raw water distribution through this dam reaches 312 liters/second or equivalent to the need for clean water of approximately 28,000 house connections," he said.

The construction of the Semantok Dam began with the signing of a work contract on December 28, 2017, with 2 packages (Packet 1 Brantas Abipraya KSO and Package 2 Hutama Karya KSO).

The contract value for the construction of the Semantok Dam for Package 2 and Package 4 handled by Hutama is IDR 1.17 trillion.

"One of the advantages in the construction of this dam is the use of digital construction through the implementation of building information modeling (BIM) which has met ISO 19650-based information management standards that support monitoring and controlling construction implementation," said Tjahjo.
