JAKARTA - The transportation company, PT Blue Bird (Persero) Tbk plans to add a fleet of electric cars next year. The company has set a target for ownership of 200 units of electric cars.

The plan is in line with the company's commitment to reduce emissions and exhaust waste by 50 percent by 2030.

President Director of PT Blue Bird Sigit Djokosoetono said the addition of an electric car fleet next year will take into account how much needs, the amount of capital expenditure, and the price of electric cars are still expensive.

Currently, Sigit continued, Bluebird's electric cars are 100 units, including those sent to Bali to support the G20 Summit.

"Next year we will add by considering the number of EVs. We plan to add at least 200 EVs next year, but of course we will see the capex, the type of vehicle," he said at a press conference, at the Bluebird Group Office, Jakarta, Thursday, November 10.

Sigit explained that apart from focusing on transforming its business, the company is committed to realizing Bluebird Sustainability Vision 50/30 to reduce the impact of emissions and operational exhaust gases by up to 50 percent by 2030.

"This commitment will also be the basis for the company's business sustainability which is supported through three pillars of sustainability, namely BlueLife, BlueSky and BlueCorps which are implemented in the company's business strategy," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy President Director of PT Blue Bird Tbk, Adrianto Djokosoetono, said that the current EV price is around 3.5-4 times the price of conventional vehicles. It is believed that EV prices will be in a downward trend.

"We hope that the ratio will continue to fall. Because (vehicle) internal combustion engine (ICE) increases. Hopefully (vehicle price) EVs will decrease," he said.

The man who is familiarly called Andre explained that in early 2020 the price of electric cars had actually started to fall but there were global supply chain constraints, so the price had skyrocketed.

"So the price of all vehicles goes up, but with the price of fuel now it's actually getting better for conversion," he said.
