JAKARTA - PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara plans to build an airport (bandara) around its mine site. This is stated in Amman Mineral's Identification and Community Empowerment Plan (RIPPM) in 2022.
"We have a plan and are in the process of building an airport with a value of Rp. 390 billion," said Amman Mineral President Director Nusa Tenggara Rachmat in a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission VII DPR RI, Thursday, November 10.
The construction of this airport will take 16 months starting this month and is expected to be completed in early 2024.
Rachmat added that the reason Medco Energi's business entity owned by the late conglomerate Arifin Panigoro built the airport in Sumbawa was to bring in hotel industry.
"In the process of operation, we do not need an airport. But after conducting a study from 2018 to 2020, if you want to bring in the hotel industry in Sumbawa, there must be an airport," continued Rachmat.
Rachmat also said that before making this decision, his party had also held discussions with various parties, including banks related to airport construction.
"We are talking to the banking team and others, and indeed there must be an airport. This is the reason why building an airport is for the stimulation of the tourism industry," concluded Rahman.
