JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) through the Directorate General of IKMA routinely holds new entrepreneurship growth and development programs (WUB) in various regions in Indonesia, one of which is in Prabumulih City which is famous for its potential natural fiber from pineapple.
The Director General of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry, Reni Yanita, said that natural fibers are closely related to the textile and finished clothing industry sector, which plays a very big role in the national economy.
"For example, by utilizing pineapple leaf fiber as one of the plant fibers that can be processed into woven fabrics or other crafts. In Indonesia, pineapple plants are widely cultivated in several areas in Java and Sumatra, one of which is in Prabumulih City," said Reni in a written statement, Wednesday, November 9.
According to Reni, one of the potentials that IKM actors can work on is to dig up local raw materials that become the wealth of regional wisdom.

Reni added that the use of pineapple fiber by the IKM group in Prabumulih City must continue to be maximized in accordance with the principles of efficiency and effectiveness in the use of sustainable alternative resources.
"This is in accordance with the circular economic concept or the green industry which was rolled out by the Ministry of Industry and adaptations in the midst of a green lifestyle," he explained.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Industry noted, the growth rate of the textile and clothing industry sector in the third quarter of 2022 reached 8.09 percent.
Meanwhile, the export performance of the textile and clothing industry sector for the January-June 2022 period amounted to USD 7.4 billion, an increase of 26.49 percent compared to the same period last year, which was USD 5.85 billion.
