JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation has restricted regular flights to and from Bali from November 13-17, 2022, in order to balance the VVIP flights of the G20 delegates with domestic and international regular flights.

"We urge the public to rearrange travel and anticipate changes in flight schedules to and from Bali," said Transportation Ministry Spokesperson Adita Irawati in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 9.

The Ministry of Transportation itself has issued a Circular (SE) of the Director General of Civil Aviation Number 12 of 2022 concerning Operational Regulations for Aviation During the Implementation of the G20 Summit at Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali.

This circular was issued as a guideline for stakeholders in the transportation sector to make flight arrangements.

In the circular, there are a number of things that are regulated, one of which is regarding operating hours that are set for 24 hours and commercial flights are prohibited from parking overnight or Remain Over Night (RON).

The implementation will start on November 12-18 at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

Meanwhile, the imposition of limited operation for regular flights will be implemented from November 13-17.

Based on the data obtained, the peak arrival of state guests (VVIP) is expected to occur on November 13 and departure on November 16.

"Given that some of the state guests and the G20 delegates still use regular flights. In addition, flights to Bali are also set only through Soekarno Hatta Airport," Adita explained.

To anticipate this, the Ministry of Transportation has carried out intensive coordination with related ministries or institutions and all aviation stakeholders.

"We have appealed to operators, both airports and airlines to be proactive in providing as clear information as possible to their customers in accordance with applicable regulations in the Circular, such as information on changes to flight schedules, delays, cancellations, compensation, refund processes, and so on," said Adita.

"As the host, of course, it must be ensured that the implementation of flight arrangements, starting from arrival to departure, runs safely, orderly and smoothly, and minimizes the impact of disturbances to flight services during the series of activities," he said.

Just to note, the G20 Summit will be attended by a number of parties, including G20 member countries, invited countries, international organizations such as (FIFA, IOC, Atlantic Council, Tesla, World Economic Forum).
