JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura (AP) I is targeting Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara to be managed. In fact, AP I has conveyed this interest to the Ministry of Transportation.

However, AP I needs strategic partners in the development of the airport in the future.

President Director of Angkasa Pura I Faik Fahmi admitted that he had submitted the airport management interest letter to the Ministry of Transportation. This means that the management is still waiting for approval from the regulator, after the departure of PT Cinta Abadi Flores (CAF).

"Because they don't work, so we take over, but when we take over we will cooperate with strategic partners," said Faik, quoted on Tuesday, November 8. Faik said that his party wanted to target strategic partners who were able to boost the number of passengers to Labuan Bajo, so it did not only depend on the partner's financial ability.

"So the target later, the beautification and capacity building of airports in Labuan Bajo is not only supported by strategic partners who have financial capabilities, but strategic partners who can encourage traffic as well. If possible I can bring in 10, if there is a strategic party, but hopefully it can reach 20, that is one of our plans," he said.

According to Faik, Labuan Bajo is one of the super priority destinations, so the increase in visits to airport services needs to be improved.

"Why is this important because Labuan Bajo is a super priority destination, it is also certain that the airport can support an increase in the number of tourism in Labuan Bajo," he said.

However, Faik still hasn't talked much about who will become AP I's strategic partner.

He admitted that currently the stages are still in the assessment position. Even so, international companies are reportedly one of the targets.

"The concept is that we are indeed cooperating with strategic partners, but whose partner strategy we are still in the assessment stage, is not final. Including Astra Infrastructure, we have discussed it, but there are also other, international options, from international partner strategies. So it is not final," said Faik. Therefore, Faik has not been able to target when the exploration and operation of Komodo Airport under AP I can be carried out. Referring to his business plan, it is targeted to be completed in 2023.

"As soon as possible," he concluded.
