JAKARTA State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) engaged in the financial sector of PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) are targeting an increase in business performance through women's economic empowerment.

PNM President Director Arief Mulyadi said the optimistic attitude was based on the company's position which is now part of the government's ultra-micro holding with PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) and also PT Pegadaian.

"We are getting easier in penetrating and various empowerment processes that must be given to ultramicro business actors, the majority of which are women," he said in a press statement on Sunday, November 6.

According to Arief, PMN is not the same as other financial institutions because it is present by providing three capitals. First, financial capital in the form of financing or credit.

Second, intellectual capital is obliged to assist or facilitate customers to discuss each other to develop business, and finally social capital in the form of a work network.

"We are also working with other ministries and agencies in order to provide literacy for customers. This is necessary to improve and strengthen the role of women in household resilience," he said.

Furthermore, he revealed that PNM consistently invites customers to develop businesses that are in accordance with expertise. Meanwhile, the majority of PNM customers are engaged in services and trade.

"So at the group meeting, a strategy for socialization was prepared in a simple way. We did everything to form education for customers," he said.

On the same occasion, the Director of Development for Work Opportunities, Ministry of Manpower I Nyoman Darmata, also opened up about the community-based independent workforce program.

The Ministry of Manpower is noted to be trying to build networks or bridge so that independent workforce program players can have access to capital, through banking, non-banking institutions to industry as their obstekers.

For information, until November 3, 2022, PNM has distributed financing of Rp. 156.8 T to PNM Mekaar customers, totaling 13 million customers.

Currently, PNM has 4197 service offices throughout Indonesia that serve MSMEs in 34 provinces, 513 districts/cities, and 5640 sub-districts.
