First Time B20 Summit 2022 Will Bahas UMKM

JAKARTA - Chairman of the B20 Indonesia Forum Shinta Widjaja Kamdani revealed, for the first time in the B20 event, he will be directed to encourage the discussion of the MSME issue by Indonesia as the presidency holder of emerging development countries.

In addition, B20 ensures that the issue of digitalization, women's entrepreneurship and financing for MSMEs, to access to infrastructure that is fundamental and affordable, can be the result of Indonesia's B20 crucial work, including to encourage MSMEs to have competitiveness in the global value chain.

"At the B20 event this time there is an inclusion because usually the issue of MSMEs is not widely discussed in B20. We put forward MSMEs and those who are vulnerable, such as women, disabilities and so on," he said at a press conference in Jakarta, Friday, November 4.

Shinta hopes that the legacy of Indonesia's B20 program can be continued by India as the holder of the B20 Presidency in 2023, considering that Indonesia and India are developing countries with economic challenges that are not much different.

For Indonesia and India, he said, MSMEs play an important role as the backbone of the economy.

"During the roadshow to India, we conveyed to the Chairperson of India's G20 Sherpa regarding the purpose of the arrival of B20 Indonesia to ensure that the leadership transition for the B20-G20 Presidency will continue smoothly, and hope that there will be a G20 continuity in India later. Chairman of India's G20 Sherpa, Amitabh Kant, ensures that there will be continuity legacy programs from B20 Indonesia," explained Shinta.

Chairman of the Steering Committee (SC) B20 Indonesia and WKU of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) for International Relations, Bernardino M Vega said, B20 Indonesia has its own strengths and uniqueness that have never existed in the B20 implementation before.

"We have a Legacy Program which is not only a recommendation, but also a concrete action as well as a sustainable initiative not only in B20 Indonesia, but B20 next. We also use the B20 Presidency to encourage a number of important programs from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry regarding investment opportunities and the issue of climate change and decarbonization, we hold it ahead of the implementation of the B20 Summit. That is the reason behind the B20 Investment Forum and B20 Net Zero Summit," said Dino.

In Investment Summit, B20 will hold a business meeting between investors and local partners for business matching and conduct regional visits that have national strategic projects and can be promoted to attract investors.

This was done because the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry wanted B20 to be able to produce real investment realization.

"So this B20 invites investors not only from the G20, but also from various other countries. This is part of the socialization that we also carried out before B20 Summit through a series of roadshows to a number of countries to explore investment opportunities and increase bilateral cooperation in the fields of investment and trade," explained Dino.

Just so you know, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry as the organizer of B20 Indonesia is currently preparing the peak of B20 or B20 Summit activities which will be held on November 13-14 at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC).
