JAKARTA - An international technology company that has a production base in Indonesia, Xiaomi, is said to have been able to develop products with a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of 40 percent for the Redmi A1 smart device product.

For this reason, the Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita expressed his appreciation for the Chinese corporation. According to the Minister of Industry, this is a positive signal that the communication technology industry continues to grow.

"Through the achievement of TKDN with the highest manufacturing scheme in the current industry, Xiaomi has exceeded 35 percent provisions for 4G and 5G-based telecommunication devices as stipulated in the Minister of Communication and Information Regulation No. 13 of 2021," he said in a press statement quoted Monday, October 31.

The Minister of Industry explained that based on the roadmap that has been prepared, the government targets the assembly of the mobile phone product industry, handheld computers, and tablet computers (HKT) to be carried out completely knocked down (CKD) starting this year until 2025.

Another effort that is being triggered is to create an ecosystem for the casing, battery, antenna and peripheral industries.

The Ministry of Industry itself sees that there is still a great opportunity to increase the value of TKDN through deepening the structure.

"According to the roadmap that was prepared, currently the battery packaging and cable industry is available domestically. This means that these components have been produced domestically," he said.

On the same occasion, Director of Xiaomi Technology Indonesia Manish Dang said the company believes that all people in the world have the right to enjoy technological innovation. Therefore, Redmi A1 is present in Indonesia to provide access for all levels of society in accessing technology that can affect their daily lives for the better.

"In order to expand the scope of access to technology supply, Xiaomi Indonesia is also working with Telkomsel's largest operator so that it can reach more and more people in the country," he said.
