JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) succeeded in increasing its contribution to national gas production achievements through the Offshore Sisi Nubi Field which experienced an increase in production to the level of 160 million cubic foot standards (MMscfd) on October 20, 2022. Previously, the Sisi Nubi field experienced a declining phase up to the level of 60 MMscfd as of July 2020.

PHM General Manager Krisna said that currently the Sisi Nubi field contributed almost 30 percent of gas production from the Mahakam Working Area (WK), where previously the highest achievement was achieved in November 2019.

Krisna said that the success of increasing PHM gas production was a positive impact of the oil and gas incentives that had been provided by the government to PHM in 2021, in the form of accelerating depreciation and exemption from VAT. Thus, PHM can build additional platforms and drill more new wells to support increased production.

"We implement more effective, efficient, and fast drilling practices in finding new oil and gas resources from exploration and development (exploitation) activities. This achievement is the realization of the Company's work program which is supported by approval of oil and gas incentives from the government," Krisna said in an official statement, Wednesday, October 26.

He added that this increase in production is a contribution of new bridge wells on North Sisi and North Nubi which will start operating in June and August 2022 as well as maintenance and intervention programs in existing wells.

The sustainability of production in the Sisi Nubi Field is supported by the reliability of production facilities that have undergone a systematic maintenance program as well as regular pipeline inspections. In addition, this increase in field production can be realized thanks to good collaboration between all related functions, including Subsurface Development & Planning, Project, Drilling & Intervention, as well as Production Operations, explained Krisna.

According to him, the success achieved by PHM in the field of Sisi Nubi cannot be separated from the support of SKK Migas and PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) as the parent company. The new well drilling program in this field is still ongoing and is expected to continue to contribute to the addition of national gas production from Mahakam.

"We are committed to continuing to invest and drill new wells as a strategic step in curbing the decline in natural production and maintaining the level of oil and gas production to support the achievement of the national oil and gas production target of 2030," concluded Krisna.

Just so you know, Sisi Field was discovered in 1986 and the Nubi field was found in 1992. Reserves of gas from the side of the Nubi field were jointly produced through several offshore platforms and then flowed through one pipe measuring 26 to SNPS Slugcatcher and further treatment was carried out at the Tunu Processing Facilities.
