Realize NZE, MIND ID Prioritizes Circular Economy

PANGKALPINANG - BUMN Holding Industry Mining Industry Indonesia (MIND ID) prioritizes the application of a circular economic approach in carrying out company operations to realize net zero emissions (NZE).

"The MIND ID Group continues to be committed to prioritizing smart mining aspects in carrying out operational activities," said MIND ID President Director Hendi Prio Santoso as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, October 19.

He said the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding SOEs consisting of PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Inalum (Persero), and PT Timah Tbk are committed to realizing NZE through a circular economy approach.

"This approach encourages companies to optimize production and reduce risk of danger, minimize environmental and social impacts, and explore more added value across the value chain," he said.

According to him, the implementation of technology in MIND ID members is carried out starting from exploration, mining operations, human resource management, and so on.

In addition, the company also uses environmentally friendly technology and focuses on reducing fuel consumption.

"We set a target of reducing emissions by 1 percent by 2022," he said.

He emphasized that this commitment is a representation of the company's efforts to reduce emissions from the energy and industrial processes and product use (IPPU) sector by 15.8 percent by 2030 and support the aspirations of the Indonesian government's net zero by 2060.

"Concepts of the MIND ID Group's economic circular approach are translated into three pillars of decarbonization, namely Avoid, Reduce, and Mitigate." he said.

Panel SOE Commitment on Net Zero Emission Hendi said the Avoid pillar emphasized the MIND ID Group's commitment to providing, investing, and improving low-carbon energy solutions across the value chain.

Pilar Reduce emphasized that the company should limit emissions as much as possible, and Mitigate emphasized that the MIND ID Group will carry out capturing and off-setting emissions.

"The circular economy has the principle of using resources and raw materials as well as final products that can be used as long as possible, producing minimal side products, can be reused and recycled," he said.
