Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said the target of 1.8 million foreign tourist visits to Indonesia had been achieved in early September 2022.

In an official statement quoted by Antara, Tuesday, October 18, Sandiaga said that the government has three more months or the period October to December 2022 in order to reach the middle and upper threshold of the target of visiting foreign tourists of 1.8 to 3.6 million.

"We still have three more months to reach the middle and upper thresholds of foreign tourist arrivals between 1.8 and 3.6 million," he said.

Currently, according to Sandi, the government is focusing on improving quality tourism with the aim of increasing the length of stay, income, and experience of tourists during their visit to Indonesia which will be adjusted to the increase in amenities, attractions, and implementation of CHSE in tourist destinations.

In addition, he continued, the government continues to intensify promotions and attract quality tourists from various countries in the world with targets, namely England, France, Russia, the Netherlands, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, China, Japan, South Korea, India, and Australia.

Sandi said the government is also targeting other countries with considerations of the country's economic level, population income, outbound cycles, average spending per Arrival (ASPA) which aims to explore and work on the potential for existing market niches.

"We adopted a strategy in working on quality tourism, so we don't only focus on arrival figures, but also on the quality," he said.
