JAKARTA - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) recorded that the capital market performance was still very good in the midst of various global challenges. One of them is shown through the number of investors which continues to increase to 9.8 million with 4.3 million of them being stock investors.

Based on data from the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI) as of October 11, 2022, so far this year there have been an additional 2.3 million new investors in the capital market, bringing the total to 9.8 million.

"It is very proud that in the midst of various challenges we can achieve very good results, one of which is in terms of increasing the number of investors," said IDX President Director Iman Rachman in the Capital Market Summit & Expo 2022 quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 13.

Not only investors have increased, Iman stated that until last week it turned out that the number of companies listed on the IDX had also increased to 810 registered companies with the addition of 44 new companies.

Meanwhile, the performance of the Composite Stock Price Index (JCI) in 2022 was recorded to show growth of 6.51 percent (ytd) in line with the recovery of the domestic economy.

"JCI had touched the all-time high position on September 13, 2022, at the level of 7,318," he said.

According to Iman, this performance is quite encouraging in the midst that most of the world's stock markets are showing negative performance.

In addition, he continued, the confidence of foreign investors to invest in Indonesia is growing, which can be seen from net purchases or foreign net buys in the stock market as of the end of September 2022 reaching IDR 69.5 trillion, up almost double compared to the end of 2021.

He emphasized that this achievement shows that Indonesia is still one of the interesting investment goals in the eyes of investors.

"Hopefully our capital market will continue to provide good performance so that it can help the national economic recovery in the midst of the pandemic we face," said Imam Rachman.
