The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) will begin to carry out the Initial Audit Council Session on the case of the alleged cooking oil cartel which has been investigated since March.
Head of KPPU Registrar Ahmad Muhari said the trial would take place on Monday morning, October 17 at the Head Office of KPPU Jakarta.
The case is registered with number 15/KPPU-I/2022 concerning Allegations of Violation of Article 5 (price setting) and Article 19 letter c (restrictions on the circulation/sale of goods) of Law Number 5 of 1999 in Sales of Packaging Oil in Indonesia (Created Oil Cases).
"The agenda for the upcoming trial is the first preliminary examination, where the KPPU Prosecution Investigator will read out and/or submit reports of alleged violations (LDP) alleged to the reported parties," he said in an official statement, quoted Thursday, October 13.
Ahmad said, there were 27 companies that were reported in the case.
Ahmad said, after the submission of the LDP, the reported parties had the right to give a response to the Report on Alleged Violations submitted by the KPPU Prosecution Investigator by submitting evidence.
"The entire preliminary examination will be carried out within a maximum period of 30 days, starting from the first trial which was attended by the reported party," he said.
Previously, it was reported that the KPPU had started investigating the alleged cooking oil cartel case since March 30, 2022 with registration number No. 03-16 / DH / KPPU.LID.I / III / 2022 concerning Allegations of Violation of Law No. 5 of 1999 (Law 5/99) related to the Production and Marketing of Cooking Oil in Indonesia.
Director of Investigation of Gopprera Panggabean said, to complete the existing evidence, KPPU has summoned parties related to allegations, such as cooking oil producers, associations, retail players, and so on.
"From the investigation process, KPPU has pocketed at least 2 types of available evidence, so it is concluded that it is appropriate to continue to the filing stage," said Gopprera, quoted Thursday, July 21.
Based on the results of the investigation, continued Gopprera, KPPU noted that there were 27 reported cases that allegedly violated two articles in Law 5/1999, namely article 5 concerning pricing and article 19 letter c concerning restrictions on the circulation or sale of goods/services.
The KPPU also increased the status of law enforcement on the case of the alleged cooking oil cartel from the investigation stage to the filing stage. Thus, the case can be continued to the next stage, namely the Initial Audit Council Session.
