Attention! Jokowi Calls the Post-COVID-19 Economic Recovery Even More Bad

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic was actually getting worse. This is because the economic recovery is overshadowed by the current food, energy, and financial crises.

"The pandemic is indeed starting to subside, maybe we will soon declare the pandemic is over. But what we see is that the post-pandemic economic recovery world has not returned to normal. But it is getting worse", Jokowi said at the launch of the Exclusive Partnership Movement for MSMEs Upgrading, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube show, Monday, October 3.

"Because apart from the pandemic, there is a war in Ukraine. We know that there is currently a food, energy, and financial crisis", he continued.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta said that the world's economic conditions were in a really bad position. In fact, said Jokowi, the uncertainty is very high.

"I keep repeating that the current world economic situation is really in a bad position. Uncertainty is very high, all countries are in a very difficult position right now, even developed countries are in a very difficult position", he said.

Even so, Jokowi admitted that he was quite optimistic that in the third quarter of 2022 Indonesia's economic growth could grow positively, exceeding the achievement in the second quarter of 2022 which was 5.44 percent.

"Thank God, our country, Indonesia, in the second quarter of 2022, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry has conveyed that it can still grow 5.44 percent, I still believe that in the third quarter of 2022 we can still grow above this figure. The key is that we all must be united, we all must synergize, we all have to have the same feeling", he said.

Jokowi said cohesiveness must be built. Moreover, considering that Indonesia is facing a challenge that is not easy. This includes cooperation between large, small, and medium-sized entrepreneurs so that the business sector in Indonesia becomes a great power.

"It is necessary that the name Indonesia incorporated, large, medium-sized ones work together to collaborate to solve problems in the field concretely and tangibly", he said.
