Member Of The House Of Representatives Calls There Has Been No Discussion On The Development Of The West Sumatra Lauik Flyover

JAKARTA - The plan to build the Sipripat Lauik flyover in West Sumatra (West Sumatra) with a government and business cooperation scheme (PPP) again faced obstacles because there had been no discussion about it in the DPR RI.

"There has been no discussion about it, both in Commission V of the DPR RI and in the Budget Agency, it is difficult to start in 2023," said member of Commission V DPR RI for Infrastructure, Athari Gauthi Ardi, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, September 27.

Athari said that the KPBU scheme previously submitted to the people of West Sumatra was also not true.

"The process is similar to the toll road. Logically, this is the government's way. So the proposed work is still from the government even though it uses the KPBU scheme. It must also use a tender system because the government must ensure that those who are working on it are business entities with the best offers," he said.

He acknowledged that flyovers could be a solution for roads in the Siview Lauik area that have many inclines and extreme derivatives.

Moreover, Athari continued, the Lauik Siview area often experiences landslides, which are dangerous for motorists.

However, because the budget needed was very large, the construction was canceled.

New hopes emerged with the KPBU scheme, but were again constrained.

Meanwhile, Assistant II of the West Sumatra Provincial Secretariat, Wardarusmen, said that the information about the construction of the Lauik Siview flyover was received from the West Sumatra National Road Implementation Center (BPJN).

"The information is like that. We are very grateful if it can be realized because it will be of great benefit to the region," he said.

He said that he had not received the latest information regarding the possibility that the KPBU scheme could fail to be realized because there had been no discussion at the center.
