JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) hopes that Tanjung Priok and Patimban ports can compete to provide services, especially in the logistics sector.
"I think the Patimban toll road will be over in 2024 and the good thing is that there is a competition between Tanjung Priok and Patimban, and that's what causes the service to be much better," Jokowi said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 20.
Jokowi said this when inaugurating the Cibitung-Cilincing (JTCC) Toll Road which is part of the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) 2 and the Serpong-Balaraja Toll Road section 1 which was the beginning of the construction of JORR 3.
"If there is no competition and is monopolized, usually run to random services," said President Jokowi.
The Patimban Port in Subang Regency, West Java, is known to be still in the construction stage consisting of three stages.
Phase 1 consists of two parts, namely stage 1-1 and stage 1-2. The 1-1 phase of the construction has been completed and currently construction will be continued to phase 1-2 in October 2022.
While phase 2 will start in October 2022 and is targeted for completion in 2025.
Patimban Port is targeted to have the same capacity as Tanjung Priok Port, amounting to 7.5 million TEUs containers or containers and 600 thousand vehicles per year in 2027.
PT Pelabuhan Patimban International (PPI) has been appointed as a private entity to develop the Patimban Port.
