JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir ordered 84 state-owned companies to use electric vehicles as official vehicles. This decision is expected to be able to save fuel consumption, especially when the world's fuel price condition continues to go crazy. This effort is also part of reducing carbon emissions.

The Ministry of SOEs also issued a letter SUZ565/MBU/09/2022. This letter was signed by Erick Thohir on September 12, 2022.

In the letter, SOEs were asked to allocate resources within the Company Group, including providing a budget to support the acceleration of the implementation of electric vehicles.

Not only that, Erick Thohir also encouraged an increase in the use of various electric vehicles as official vehicles for the Board of Directors and Company Leaders, including two-wheeled and four-wheeled operational vehicles.

According to Erick, electric vehicles are much more efficient than fuel-based vehicles. Electric motors, for example, every 1 kWh of the battery can cover a distance of about 40-60 km, depending on the condition of the road. Meanwhile, the fuel motor for every 1 liter assumes to cover the same distance, 40-60 km.

The price of 1 kWh is around Rp. 1,700 to Rp. 2,000, while the latest 1 liter pertalite costs Rp. 10,000 so that the cost of using an electric motorbike is only one-fifth of a fuel motorbike.

"The Ministry of SOEs is pushing for full acceleration, because at this time the right momentum. The price of world fuel rose uncontrollably and prices in the country had to be adjusted, the Ministry of SOEs immediately moved quickly through the acceleration of this electric vehicle program so that fuel consumption could be reduced," he said in an official statement, Wednesday, September 14.

Erick admitted that he had assigned PT PLN (Persero) and PT Pertamina (Persero) to synergize with other SOEs to prepare supporting infrastructure for Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) and Public Electric Vehicle Battery Distribution Stations (SPBKLU) in sectors managed by SOEs such as toll road rest areas, airports, ports, train stations, tourism areas, and gas stations.

Meanwhile, the state-owned banking sector is asked to provide support for ease of financing for the community to buy electric vehicles, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled.

Erick said the invitation to encourage electric vehicles would also be expanded to other government environments, with facilities provided by SOEs managed by the Ministry of SOEs.

"Later on, if the use of electric vehicles is wider, it will be easier for the community. I see that PLN has prepared a complete platform and ecosystem through PLN Mobile to support its daily use. I will also ask Pertamina to provide charging stations for electric vehicles at gas stations. which are currently managed by Pertamina," he said.
