PLN Add Premium 40 MVA Electricity To Data Center Company

JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) provides premium electricity services to PT Ekagateta Data Gemilang (EDGE DC) located in Jakarta.

This data center company adds a power capacity of 40 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) and is included in PLN Premium customers.

Previously last May, PLN had also supplied electricity for the EDE data center of 18 MVA.

Through premium services, PLN provides more reliable electricity services for customers at affordable rates.

EDGE DC will be supplied from two different power sources equipped with the Automatic Changer Over (ACO) system as a transfer of automatic power sources in the event of a power outage in the main power source.

General Manager of PLN's Main Distribution Unit (UID) Jakarta Raya, Doddy B. Pangaribuan explained, PLN is ready to provide the best service for Premium customers.

He said DKI Jakarta is currently supplied by 6 sub-systems with a total capacity of 8,535 Megawatt (MW) and the highest peak load in 2022 of 5,515 MW.

"There is still a electricity supply reserve of 35 percent to meet the potential electricity needs in Jakarta," added Doddy in an official statement, Monday, September 12.

He said the projected use of electricity for the Data Center in the Jakarta area in 2022 is estimated at 300 MVA and will continue to grow.

With the large power capacity of electricity supply, PLN is confident that it can meet the electricity needs.

"We hope that the growth of the Data Center in Jakarta will develop and of course PLN will be the main choice for the electricity supply," said Doddy.

Until July 2022, there were 2,750 customers who enjoyed premium services with a total power of 948 MVA spread throughout DKI Jakarta.

With the signing of this agreement, in 2022 PLN will supply 58 MVA for the EDE DC data center, with details of Data Center 1 (EDGE 1) of 18 MVA located in the Tendean area and Data Center 2 (EDGE 2) of 40 MVA located in the Setiabudi area, South Jakarta.

The CEO of EDGE DC, Stephanus Oscar also expressed his gratitude for the fast-responsive services from PLN to meet customer needs.

"With the Premium service from PLN, we are becoming more and more confident in meeting the needs of our Data Center users," continued Stephanus Oscar.
