Has Jangkau 25 Million Users, QRIS And BI-Fast Continued To Expansion

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) noted that up to now, almost 25 million users have been connected to the national digital platform, namely the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) and BI-FAST Payment.

Of this figure, as many as 20.5 million Indonesian MSMEs have been connected by QRIS and BI-FAST.

"Digital is the world now and in the future, our children are used to digitalization," said BI Governor Perry at the Opening Ceremony of the 2022 Sharia Economic Festival (FESyar), quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 8.

QRIS and BI-FAST are now connected to Thailand, so if Indonesians go to the country, it is enough to make payments through QRIS and BI-FAST.

In addition, he said, the QRIS and BI-FAST trials with Malaysia are also ongoing so that the Indonesian payment system will soon be connected to the neighboring country.

Then, in 2024, QRIS and BI-FAST will be connected to Singapore and in 2025 to the Philippines. Thus, QRIS and BI-FAST will be connected to the ASEAN-5 country.

In addition to QRIS and BI-FAST, Perry explained that local currency cooperation (LCS) will also apply in these countries.

"Later, when paying, there is no need for rupiah to the US dollar, US dollars to the Thai baht, and others. Just go from rupiah to Thai baht, Malaysian ringgit, and Singapore dollars, in just seconds," he said.

Not only conventional businesses, he said that Islamic boarding schools have now become a center for digitalization development such as QRIS and BI-FAST, so they do not only become the center of the Islamic finance economy.

The massive digitalization in Islamic boarding schools, mainly in payments for sales of MSME products there.

Then, the provision of zakat, infaq, alms, and so on at Islamic boarding schools has now used QRIS and BI-FAST.

"Let's continue to digitize our Islamic boarding schools, the Islamic finance economy in Java, East Java, and then we connect to the world," said Perry.
