In Order To Open Economic Growth, The BUMN Companies Responsive To Wait 8 Years To Play Capital On Toll Road Projects

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir admits that the return of capital on infrastructure projects, especially toll roads, takes a long time. In fact, said Erick, it took up to 8 years.

Erick's statement follows investment cooperation between the Indonesia Investment Authority or INA and PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk (WSKT) and its subsidiary PT Waskita Toll Road (WTTR), for two sections of the Trans Java Toll Road, namely the Kanci-Pejagan Toll Road and Pejagan-Pemalang Toll Road.

"Indeed, toll road investment takes about 7-8 years, so it can be in very good condition," Erick said in an official statement quoted on Wednesday, September 7.

Furthermore, Erick believes that toll road investment can open up tremendous economic growth for the surroundings. One of them is the economic growth of the existence of electricity needs during the construction of toll roads.

"This is emphasized by Mrs. Sri Mulyani (Minister of Finance), how the National Strategic Projects driven by the government can also encourage infrastructure growth well and create job opportunities," she said.

On this occasion, Erick also believes that the cooperation between INA and Waskita Karya through their respective subsidiaries can improve the company's performance. In fact, Erick also ensures that he will improve BUMN Karya's finances.

"I will make sure to continue to encourage restructuring in these works (BUMN Karya). And we have, that infrastructure investment is indeed an investment that needs recovery," he said.

Furthermore, Erick said he would encourage SOE assets to be open, transparent and carried out by market mechanism. Erick said, this is part of the credibility.

"Where investors believe that this is a very good momentum for Indonesia in opening up Indonesia's economic growth and is the center of world economic growth," he explained.
