Highest Record Since The Pandemic, Tourist Visits To Indonesia Capai 476 Thousand As Of July 2022

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno stated that 476 thousand foreign tourists visited Indonesia during July 2022.

"Based on data from July 2022, there have been 476,970 foreign tourists visiting Indonesia. This number is the highest record since the COVID-19 pandemic," he said in a statement from The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, September 6.

Tourist visits are dominated by five countries, namely Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, India, and the United States with an increase of almost 40 percent.

Cumulatively during January-July 2022, the number of foreign tourists reached 1.2 million visits or an increase of up to 15 times. The increase was triggered by the Visa on Arrival (VoA) policy for foreign tourists, especially to Bali.

Currently, foreign tourists visiting Bali have reached 246,504 visits as of July 2022. This is the highest number after the pandemic (COVID-19) with a daily visit of nine thousand visits, of which this foreign tourists enter Indonesia via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and Benoa Port. said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy.

Regarding the VoA policy, he continued, currently 75 countries have been included in the list of VoA recipients with an additional three new countries, namely Maldives, Monaco, and Colombia.

"There are an additional nine visa-free subject countries for special tourist visits to Indonesia, namely the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam," said Sandiaga.
