JAKARTA - Halim Perdanakusuma Airport is ready to return to serve commercial flights after the revitalization conducted last March.

It is planned that Halim Airport will start operating on September 1.

Acting Director General of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transportation, Nur Isnin Istiartono asked PT. Angkasa Pura II (AP II) as the Airport Business Entity (BUMBU) Halim Perdanakusuma Airport to properly prepare all commercial flight operational support facilities at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, for the smooth running of flight services.

"We have carried out the verification process for facilities at the terminal building and have been followed up by AP II," said Nur Isnin in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 30.

It is believed that the re-operation of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport will increase connectivity and increase fleet utilities so that it can contribute to more affordable tariff-making efforts.

In addition, Nur Isnin requested that PT AP II carry out full coordination with the Indonesian Air Force and other stakeholders, to ensure that aspects of safety, security and service as well as fulfillment of all regulations are met.

"Halim Perdanakusuma Airport and Soekarno-Hatta Airport which are also managed by AP II can support each other in providing flight services for the community, in order to contribute to the national economic recovery in the midst of this pandemic and is also the main driver of growth in the national aviation sector," he said.

Aviation Route Settings

The Ministry of Transportation also reminded AP II so that flight route arrangements can be reorganized.

Especially, continued Nur Isnin, several routes were diverted to other airports.

Nur Isnin added that his party also thanked all parties who fully supported it until Halim Airport was ready to be re-operated, especially to the Indonesian Air Force and the Ministry of Defense.

"Also appreciation to PT. Angkasa Transportindo Selaras as the manager of the use of land assets and PT. Angkasa Pura II as the airport manager, which has reached solutions related to business or commercial aspects," he said.

For your information, Halim Airport has actually been operating again since last July. However, its operation is still limited to military interests, in this case the Indonesian Air Force (AU) and VIP flights.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi after testing the runway resulting from the revitalization of Halim Perdanakusumah Airport, Tuesday, July 12.

"Technically, Halim Airport runway can be used on a limited basis for military exercises and VIP flights starting tomorrow (13 July 2022), and September it can be used for commercial purposes," said Minister of Transportation Budi.

Budi said that Halim Airport has not operated since January 2022, because revitalization has been carried out.

The revitalization step is taken to improve land and air side facilities, in order to improve aspects of flight safety, security and comfort.

Furthermore, Budi explained, the limited use of runways is intended to make improvements, if there are shortcomings that must be corrected.

"Besides the runway, we also build terminals for VVIP guests. Commercial operations will be carried out simultaneously with the completion of the terminal building," he said.
