Egg Prices In Batam Traditional Market Rose 20 Percent, Traders: I Sold 7 Years, This Is The Highest Price

BATAM - The increase in egg prices not only made people scream, but also traders complained. The soaring price of eggs makes people's purchasing power decline.

The price of eggs in traditional markets in Batam City rose from Rp. 50,000 per board (one board containing 30 pills) to Rp. 60 thousand. There has been an increase of 20 percent in a period of two weeks.

One of the basic food traders at the Mega Legend Batam Market, Yasin said, this is the highest price he has experienced while selling.

"I've been selling eggs for almost 7 years and this is the highest price," said Yasin, as reported by Antara, Saturday, August 27.

Yasin admitted that he did not really know what caused the price of eggs to increase. However, he estimates this is related to the price of chicken feed which is also rising.

"The increase in egg prices is not knowing the cause either, is it because there are issues of expensive chicken feed, so the price of chicken eggs has also increased," he said.

Yasin admitted that the current increase in egg prices has caused consumer purchasing power to decrease.

"The cost of buying is a decrease, eggs are the main ingredient, so there are still those who buy even though they are small. Usually the one who buys the absorption, so it's only half the board," said Yasin.

Meanwhile, a buyer, Dias said that the increase in egg prices made him reduce the purchase of eggs.

"Now I don't buy one more board of eggs because it's expensive. So just buy it per 10 pills, that's already Rp. 20,000 in price," said Dias.
