No Clear Reason Yet, Wings Air Owned By Conglomerate Rusdi Kirana Stops Tanjung Selor-Balikpapan Flights And Vice Versa

JAKARTA - Wings Air, part of the Lion Air Group airline belonging to the conglomerate Rusdi Kirana, has stopped operating passenger flights on the Tanjung Selor - Balikpapan and Balikpapan - Tanjung Selor routes, Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan (Kaltara) since the last three days.

"The information we received is that the management of Wings Air is still waiting for the rotation of the aircraft fleet," said Tanjung Harapan Airport Head Sofyan Palanro as reported by Antara, Friday, August 19.

He explained that until now he could not confirm when Wings Air would resume operations because there was no information from the airline.

Another reason, Sofyan estimates that the shortage of avtur fuel is the reason Wings Air stops operating in Bulungan.

His party admitted that they did not have data on the total number of passengers affected by not leaving due to the cessation of Wings Air operations.

The airline should, he added, provide information on the cancellation of departures to the airport and prospective passengers.

"We haven't updated the number of passengers whose flights have been cancelled. We're a bit regretful that something like this has happened," he said.

As for the Wings Air airline office at Tanjung Harapan Airport, there seemed to be no activity in it. Not a single airline officer is active and can be found.
