JAKARTA – The government through the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) encourages the younger generation to have a better understanding of the functions and benefits of state finances in the life of the nation.

The Head of the Communications Bureau of the Ministry of Finance Rahayu Puspasari said that the younger generation must be able to jointly oversee state finances in order to support all government programs in implementing strategic policies.

"We as a unit are connected to move forward and build Indonesia on our respective paths, but are found at the same point to care about our money," he said through an online channel during the Road to Ministry of Finance (Mofest) 2022 activity in Bali, Thursday, August 11th.

According to Rahayu, the total population of Indonesia in 2020 is 270.2 million people. With a population of productive age reaching 70.72 percent of the population, Indonesia has a demographic bonus.

"This demographic bonus plays an important role in realizing Indonesia's 2045 Vision," he said.

On the same occasion, Expert Staff of the Minister of Finance for State Expenditure Made Arya Wijaya stated that the younger generation as future cadres of the nation must have better abilities, skills and competitiveness as leaders.

"The government hopes that the younger generation has a comprehensive understanding of how the role of state finances and the Ministry of Finance is in supporting all government programs and also in implementing policies that will of course be directly related to the younger generation," he said.

Made also added that in the future, when you understand and participate in this activity, you will certainly be able to raise awareness of the central role of fiscal instruments as state finances.

“So our money or the state budget is essentially a common property which is managed as state finances. So let's invite the younger generation to be more concerned, understand more and also participate in monitoring," he said.

For information, previous Mofest activities have been held in two cities, namely Bandung and Malang, out of a total of four cities to be visited.

Meanwhile, the performance of the 2022 State Budget itself still shows positive results with a budget surplus of IDR 73.6 trillion at the end of the first semester.
