Trade Minister Zulhas Says Instant Noodle Prices Will Not Increase 3 Times Due To President Jokowi's Visit To Russia: Ukrainian Wheat Market Will Be Flooded

JAKARTA - The Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan ensured that the price of instant noodles would not increase three times as information circulated in the community.

"Instant noodles will not increase three times because wheat has an upward trend, due to crop failures in Australia, which is around 67 million tons," said Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan after reviewing the prices of food needs at Wates Market, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, quoted by Antara. from Antara, Thursday 11 August.

He said the visit of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) some time ago to Russia had a good impact on the availability and supply of wheat in Indonesia.

"The president went to Russia and it worked, wheat is free now. So the wheat market will be flooded by Ukraine. Then Australia's harvest is successful, Canada is successful, America is successful. In my opinion, wheat will fall in price in September, the trend will go down. So if three maybe not, if there was a slight increase yesterday, yes. So, our inflation is 4 percent, 5 percent so it's going up that much, but September tends to go down," said the Trade Minister.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Kulon Progo Department of Trade and Industry (Disdagin), Sudarna, said that the demand and availability of wheat made from wheat in Kulon Progo was not volatile, still as usual, i.e. there was no decrease or increase in demand.

This is reflected in the stable price of flour at the level of people's market traders and grocery stores. Based on the results of monitoring on August 4, 8 and 10, 2022 there were no significant changes.

In Kulon Progo, there are five types of flour brands, namely Blue Triangle for Rp. 12 thousand, Cakra Twins for Rp. 13 thousand, Kunci for Rp. 13 thousand, Red Ribbon for Rp. 12.5 thousand and in bulk Rp. 10 thousand.

"Based on monitoring for three consecutive times there is no increase and prices remain," he said.
