JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said that the programs run by state-owned companies are the drivers of village economic growth. Therefore, Erick assessed that SOEs have a very important role in the Indonesian economy.
"The BUMN program is a driving force for the village economy which will have a significant impact on energy sustainability in the region as well as employment, especially by medium-sized entrepreneurs and regional entrepreneurs," he said in a written statement, Monday, August 8.
Erick said, this positive growth also has the potential to stimulate Indonesia's real sector in the midst of a global economic condition that is still full of pressure.
"BUMN projects and programs that are present in the midst of a pandemic have a positive impact in maintaining purchasing power and increasing public spending activities. As a result, household consumption continued to increase from -5.52 percent yoy in the second quarter of 2020 to 5.51 percent yoy in the second quarter of 2022," he said.
Erick said SOEs as the pillars of the Indonesian economy are committed to continuing various programs to support the government in maintaining economic growth.
"It is hoped that the momentum of economic growth in the second quarter of 2022 of 5.44 percent can be maintained until the end of the year," he explained.
Not only that, Erick said that SOEs also contributed to achieving the national financial inclusion target of 90 percent by 2024 through the Establishment of Ultra Micro Holding (UMi). The contribution of Holding UMi to achieve this target is 70 percent.
Erick explained, at the beginning of the establishment of Holding UMi, by optimizing the customers managed by PNM-Pegadaian and the potential of 30 million customers who had not been served so far, Holding UMi was able to add new customers to 55 million customers.
"So that later in 2024, a total of 121.6 million customers (70 percent of national financial inclusion) will be served by Holding UMI," he said.
