Visit Buntet Islamic Boarding School, Cirebon: Coordinating Minister For The Economy Airlangga Hartarto Asks Ulama To Help Pray For Indonesia's Economic Recovery

CIREBON—Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto asked for prayers from scholars, kiai, and ustadz in Pondok Buntet Pesantren, Cirebon, to be able to maintain the positive trend of the Indonesian economy.

This was conveyed by Airlangga while attending Haul Armarhumin, Elders, and Residents of Pondok Buntet Pesantren, in Cirebon, Saturday (6/8/2022).

"As the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, I ask for your prayers to be given the ability to work to restore the national economy amidst the unstable and uncertain world geo-political challenges," said Airlangga in his remarks at Pondok Buntet Pesantren, Saturday (6/8).

The Coordinating Minister for the Economy admitted that the prayers of the ulama and kiai of Pondok Buntet Pesantren were highly expected because at this time Indonesia was still facing many challenges.

Apart from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the government must also find a way out of the impact of world economic stability due to the Russia-Ukraine war. In fact, most recently, tensions emerged between China and Taiwan which added to the severity of its impact on countries in the world.

It was noted that the economic growth of a large country such as the United States was only 0.9 percent. China also for the first time experienced economic growth below 1 percent.

Airlangga said, so far, the government has managed to overcome economic pressures due to global geo-political conditions and the Covid-19 pandemic. This is evident from the current economic growth that has recorded positive results.

"BPS announced that our economic growth continues to grow significantly, reaching an extraordinary 5.4 percent," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga.

The General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP added that the government continues to try to control inflation by maintaining people's purchasing power. Namely, through various policies in the National Economic Recovery Program (PEN). For example, subsidy policies and social protection programs for the community.

“We must maintain this positive economic trend until our economy fully recovers. The government has very serious concerns in overcoming extreme poverty as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic," said Airlangga.

Airlangga Hartarto attended the Haul Pondok Buntet Islamic Boarding School in Cirebon accompanied by the Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita and a member of the Presidential Advisory Council HR Agung Laksono.

The group was greeted directly by the caretaker of the Pondok Buntet Pesantren, KH Adib Rofiuddin Izza, General Chair of the Islamic Education Institute (YLPI) Pondok Buntet Pesantren KH Salman Al Farisi. Also present at the event, Rois Aam Syuriah PBNU KH Miftahul Akhyar, to the caretaker of the Bumi Sholawat Islamic Boarding School, Sidoarjo, KH Agoes Ali Masyhuri.
