JAKARTA - The holding company of the MNC Media group belonging to the conglomerate Hary Tanoesoedibjo, PT Global Mediacom Tbk (BMTR) is preparing an integrated and one-stop studio, Movieland. The project is predicted to be completed by the end of 2023.

The Movieland project occupies an area of 21 hectares (Ha) in the MNC Lido City Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Bogor, West Java. This project is being worked on by PT MNC Studios Internasional Tbk (MSIN), which is also a subsidiary of PT Media Nusantara Citra Tbk (MNCN).

Head of Investor Relations MNCN Luthan Fadel said, the concept from Movieland was created for the outdoor or outdoor-based content production process.

The plan, Movieland will have an indoor studio of 1,500 square meters with a giant green screen and other special sets to support the production process of films and drama series. This complements the studio that previously existed in Kebon Sirih for indoor content production needs.

"In the future, there will be cities, villages, stations, airports. For our content production process, which is outdoor-based," said Luthan in Global Mediacom's public expose, Friday, July 28.

Luthan continued, this project has been started last year and is projected to be completed in 2023. Phase II of Movieland development is expected to be completed by the end of 2022 and will continue to the next stage next year.

Meanwhile, around IDR 300 billion has been invested for the construction of Movieland for 3 years. With the presence of Movieland, BMTR is expected to help make Indonesian film production efficient due to the integration of all stages of production from pre-production, production, to post-production in one place.

BMTR also plans to make this area the largest film and drama series (TV & OTT) production center in Southeast Asia.

The Movieland area is prioritized for supporting the company's consolidated content production.

"Movieland's main goal is not to generate revenue but to support content production. However, if anyone wants to rent it, they can, but again, our priority is to support content production," concluded Luthan.
