JAKARTA - Expert Staff of the Presidential Staff Office, Hageng Nugroho, emphasized that Indonesia's commitment to clean energy is becoming more evident with the presence of the Country Platform for the energy transition mechanism (ETM).

According to him, the Country Platform ETM is one of the targeted breakthroughs and becomes a fundraising hub, which can be tracked and ensured its use for green or low-emission investments.

With these advantages, said Hageng, the government is optimistic that it can gain the trust of investors so that the acceleration of the clean energy transition can be carried out.

"The launch of the Country Platform ETM opens Indonesia's path to clean energy," said Hageng in a written statement, Wednesday, July 20.

As is known, at the G20 side event themed “Sustainable Finance for Climate Transition” in Nusa Dua Bali, Thursday, July 14, the government launched the ETM Country Platform.

This launch is a form of government cooperation with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur in the context of dealing with climate change.

Hageng explained that the ETM Country Platform is a framework to provide the necessary financing to accelerate the national energy transition, by mobilizing commercial and non-commercial funding sources in a sustainable manner.

"KSP strategically supports this policy, and will assist the relevant technical ministries in gaining the trust of donors, as well as encouraging the socialization of the country platform to all interested parties," he said.

Hageng said the Indonesian government had prepared several efforts to encourage the clean energy transition program to achieve the renewable energy mix target of 23 percent by 2025.

Until 2021, he continued, the energy mix was still at 11.5 percent or around 50 percent of the target.

To accelerate the achievement of renewable energy, said Hageng, investment is realized in the form of building power plants using new renewable energy sources (EBY).

Such as Hydro Power Plants (PLTA), 3 Geothermal Power Plants (PLTP), 18 Micro Hydro Power Plants (PLTM), Bioenergy PLT, Solar Power PLT, and Rooftop PLTS.

"In a pandemic condition, our EBTKE investment can still get 1.51 billion US dollars or 74 percent of the 2.04 billion US dollar target,"

Hageng ensured that the Presidential Staff Office simultaneously coordinates and actively supports the policies of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and PLN, in encouraging the acceleration of the construction of new and renewable energy power plants.

"In terms of being the host of the G20, KSP is also actively involved in every summit session related to the energy transition mechanism. Mr. Moeldoko as the Presidential Chief of Staff is also actively campaigning for green transportation through the development of electric vehicles," he concluded.
