JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) has restored electricity supply in West Seram Regency and Central Maluku, Maluku Province, which have been disrupted due to extreme weather since Saturday, July 16.

The extreme weather resulted in landslides and broken access roads and bridges connecting between villages, and had an impact on the electricity network in the form of two Medium Voltage Air Line (SUTM) poles being broken due to falling trees.

"This has resulted in the cessation of electricity supply to customers in six villages, namely Tree Batu Village, Wasia, Sanahu, Huse, Sumith, and Ahiolo Village in the two regencies," said PLN Manager of the Masohi Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3), I Made Agus Dwi. Putra was reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 19.

He said the PLN team managed to restore electricity to 455 customers in six affected villages.

His party dispatched 32 personnel to be able to speed up the recovery process at the location of the landslide which resulted in the breakdown of the two electricity poles belonging to PLN.

"We thank you for the prayers and support from the community and all stakeholders," he said.

In addition, PLN UP3 Masohi personnel are also on standby to maintain electricity supply in Masohi, Central Maluku Regency and its surroundings, which have been affected by flooding since Sunday, July 17.

"For now, we can make sure that electricity services are not disrupted due to the flooding that occurred in Masohi and its surroundings. However, our officers continue to be on standby to observe developments that occur and will continue to coordinate with related parties," said Made.

PLN urges people in Masohi and its surroundings to always check all electrical and electronic equipment in their homes before going to bed, and make sure they are disconnected from the socket when not in use.

"As an anticipatory measure to maintain electricity security in their respective homes during the rainy season like this, we also invite customers to routinely check the condition of the electrical installations in their homes to ensure there are no potential electrical hazards such as chipped cables," he said.

In the event of an electrical disturbance, he continued, customers are advised to immediately report on the complaint feature in the PLN Mobile application.

"But if the customer's house or PLN's installation is submerged in water, for the sake of safety, we will be forced to temporarily turn off the electricity. Customers can also turn off electrical installations in the house, raise electronic devices to a higher place," he added.
