JAKARTA - The national airline Garuda Indonesia is said to have started serving return flights for Hajj II pilgrims on Friday with a total of about 1,500 people divided into 4 (four) groups of pilgrims from Solo, Padang and Jakarta.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra said the company's participation in this year's hajj pilgrimage was due to good synergy and cooperation from all parties.

"On behalf of Garuda Indonesia, I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation," he said in a press statement, Saturday, July 16.

According to Irfan, in the midst of the pandemic situation that is still looming over the aviation industry, Garuda's contribution has complemented the Hajj flight services for more than six decades.

"We are trying to maintain the quality and reliability of hajj flight services," he said.

Irfan explained that Garuda Indonesia had managed to record an on time performance (OTP) rate of 94.53 percent for all flights in the departure phase.

"We will continue to monitor the operations of this year's hajj flights through intensive coordination with various stakeholders and relevant authorities, to ensure that the entire series of hajj flights this year can run smoothly, on time, and of course be able to provide comfort for all pilgrims," he said.

For information, Garuda has successfully completed Phase I of the departure of hajj flights on July 3, 2022 after flying a total of 47,761 pilgrims. Meanwhile, Phase II of Hajj flights will last until August 13, 2022.

To make it easier for the public to get information about the departure and return schedules for this year's hajj flights, Garuda Indonesia has prepared a website https://hajj.garuda-indonesia.com/site/pererbangan/departure.

"We don't forget to also urge the congregation to apply health protocols consistently, as an effort so that all congregations are in good health until they arrive back in the country," concluded Irfan.
