Economic Observer From Pelita Harapan Questions Coal Company 'Cash Fighting' At Risk Of Bad Credit In Political Year

JAKARTA - Pelita Harapan University economist Tanggor Sihombing commented on the viral hashtag #BongkarSkandalBombaGroup on Twitter some time ago. This arose regarding the alleged bad credit of Bomba Group to one of the state-owned banks which was echoed by netizens.

According to him, the issue became big because the nominal loan size of PT Bomba Group reached trillions of rupiah. Especially in the midst of an economic crisis like today, money issues have become sensitive to be discussed.

"The nominal is large, trillions. Then, during the current economic crisis, cash (liquidity) becomes king (king). So every money becomes a bone of contention and is sensitive to go viral," Tanggor told reporters, Tuesday, July 12.

He also questioned whether in a company surrounded by stakeholders whether fighting over cash or asking questions related to the political year.

"Coal companies are suspected to be surrounded by many stakeholders, is there a cash struggle? Is this closely related to the recent political years?," he continued.

So according to him, of course there will be a nominal impact on the Indonesian economy, especially because the coal industry is currently sluggish.

"So the possibility of traffic jams will be high. Law enforcement will be involved if there is an anomaly. So it must be started with an audit first," he said.

"Screams like this should appear to improve the governance of banks that provide credit loans for better. Watchdogs are needed in every corporation. That will build management awareness," he said again.

In response to this, Digital and Metaverse Business Consultant Tuhu Nugraha said that the issue was interesting because there was a positive side to social media, namely being part of a control system such as media and journalists.

"Social media has become a means of public voice for participation and monitoring, although essentially what is voiced is right or wrong," said Tuhu.

He said, mathematically the trending topic is when a lot of people are tweeting.

"It can be organic, there are many who participate in voicing and talking to steal public attention, especially to the media," he said.
