JAKARTA - PT Pos Indonesia continues to empower women through the O-Ranger Mawar women's special courier service to create an economically independent society.

Pos Indonesia Courier and Logistics Business Director Siti Choiriana said O-Ranger Mawar is a form of cultural transformation at Pos Indonesia by maximizing the role of women as the frontline to serve consumers in the process of picking up and delivering goods to the company.

"We hope that O-Ranger Mawar will provide better engagement and ultimately improve business fundamentals and support gender equality," he said, quoted from Antara, Thursday, July 7th.

Choiriana said that O-Ranger Mawar is Pos Indonesia's latest breakthrough to improve services on the digital courier platform 'PosAja!' for customers who want to place orders for mail or package delivery transactions.

Since its establishment in August 2021, this courier service has involved 1,700 women and is spread throughout Indonesia. Meanwhile, the total number of Pos Indonesia couriers currently reaches 43,000 people.

The company targets 5,000 female couriers to join the Mawar O-Ranger and increase to 10,000 female couriers by early 2023.

Choiriana said that there are 64 million micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia and 52 percent of MSME actors are women. O-Ranger Mawar does not just pick up and send goods, but there is a process of sharing knowledge and experience between couriers and SMEs.

According to her, MSMEs in Indonesia are closely related to women's products ranging from fashion, make-up, to food. O-Ranger Mawar is the company's effort in adopting global targets regarding sustainable development or Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"If it is women who do the pick-up and delivery, then the engagement will be extraordinary. At first they only pick-up and send, in the end they become people who are in new business because they learn directly from MSME actors. This example is mostly in Jakarta, ' said Choiriana.

Furthermore, he hopes that O-Ranger Mawar can encourage the national economy by increasing the number of MSMEs in Indonesia. Moreover, this Pos Indonesia female courier is dominated by the productive young generation aged 20 to 35 years.

The Company recruits people who have fashion and passion for work, and focuses on recruiting Vocational High School (SMK) graduates because many vocational school graduates are not absorbed by the world of work, which incidentally are women.

"There are so many SMK graduates who should be ready to work, but are not absorbed by the world of work, so we recruit them. We do this a lot in Yogyakarta," said Choiriana.

He revealed that if young people who graduated from SMK were not empowered properly, they would become unemployed and cause big problems for the country. Moreover, in fact this young generation is a woman who will become a mother.

The female courier service will increase the company's loyalty index. Pos Indonesia requires customers to be maintained so that the company's business is sustainable and has good fundamentals.

"Pos Indonesia's market share is small, so we must have a strong program to enter the pockets of the transaction so that we can return this business," said Choiriana.

Throughout 2021, Pos Indonesia achieved a brilliant performance. Profit for the year was recorded at IDR 589.7 billion or grew 72.43 percent compared to 2020 which was IDR 342.1 billion. This achievement of a net profit of Rp589.7 billion has never happened in the last decade.
