JAKARTA - PT Gagas Energi Indonesia (Gagas) as part of Pertamina Gas Subholding will be 11 years old on 27 June 2022. In its 11th year, Gagas continues to strengthen its commitment to support Gas Subholding in its role to integrate natural gas infrastructure in Indonesia and expand access to energy for the community and natural gas users.

The idea of bridging energy access for people who have not been reached by pipeline gas infrastructure through the distribution of natural gas beyond the pipeline. The use of natural gas beyond the pipeline through the compressed natural gas (CNG) technology currently being carried out by Gagas is focused on targeting the MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) and commercial segments through the Gaslink Cylinder (C-cyl).

The President Director of Gagas, Muhammad Hardiansyah, emphasized that the presence of Gagas was not only to support PGN in expanding access to natural gas through technology beyond the pipeline, but also to support industry players to be able to rise from the impact of the pandemic through the provision of efficient energy.

"The last two years have been tough years for all sectors, including MSMEs, commercial and industrial due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the Gaslink and Gaslink Cylinders that Gagas continues to develop, we want to help industry players to survive through efficient use of energy, "explained Hardiansyah in his statement, Thursday, June 30.

The use of Gaslink for industry and commercial can help users to get the efficiency needed by business actors. As experienced by Bambang, Manager of the Morning Afternoon Restaurant in Jakarta.

"Using Gaslink really helps us to get efficiency. Not only 5 percent or 10 percent but we can feel the efficiency of up to 20 percent," said Bambang.

Sonny A Tanamas as the Factory Manager of PT Tanamas Industry Communitas feels the same way. Gaslink helps the rattan products produced by Tanamas to be able to compete in the international market.

"The efficiency we get from using Gaslink can help us reduce production costs, so that our products can compete in international markets," said Sonny.

In 2022, Gagas together with PGN will also continue to initiate the use of natural gas in the Central Java and Yogyakarta Special Regions. The expansion of natural gas utilization in the area is targeted to increase the utilization of natural gas between 700,000 - 750,000 m3 per month.

Gagas and PGN first served natural gas customers in Central Java in 2014 through the construction of compressed natural gas infrastructure in the Tambak Aji Industrial Estate, Semarang. Gagas brought natural gas taken from Surabaya to be further distributed to the Pressure Reducing System (PRS) at Tambak Aji for further distribution by PGN to 13 industrial customers and 97 household customers, especially in the Semarang area.

In the future, apart from PRS Tambak Aji Semarang, Gagas will try to open markets in the Central Java Region and Yogyakarta Special Region using Gaslink Cylinders for natural gas users with an average energy requirement of around 500 m3 - 2,000 m3 per month.

"In 2022, Gagas has prepared 100 cylinders of Gaslink Cylinder infrastructure to serve the needs of natural gas users in the Central Java and Yogyakarta Special Regions. Gradually in 2023 Gagas will prepare about 250 more cylinders. We hope that we can meet the needs of industry players in the region. this area, and people's access to natural gas becomes easier," said Hardiansyah.
