Fulfilling Residential Needs For MBR, Ministry Of PUPR Distributes 60,706 Self-help Housing Assistance Units

JAKARTA – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Housing continues to provide housing for low-income communities (MBR) through the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) or Self Helping Houses.

The Director General of Housing at the Ministry of PUPR, Iwan Suprijanto, said that in 2022, his party will receive a budget allocation of IDR 2.23 trillion for the BSPS program with a target of 103,000 housing units that are unfit for habitation.

"For the BSPS, until now there are still some changes to the proposals for prospective beneficiaries. Of the target of 103,000 units, which has been stated in the Decree (SK) as many as 89,000 units. As for the physical progress that has been carried out as many as 60,706 units (58.94 percent), " said Iwan in a written statement, Wednesday, June 28.

Based on the data, the BSPS program implemented using the Cash-Intensive Method (PKT) in 2022 targets the absorption of a workforce of 206,000 people.

So far, the progress has absorbed 121,412 people.

The BSPS program is a stimulant given by the government to low-income people whose houses are unfit for habitation.

With the BSPS funds, they are expected to be self-sufficient in building their houses to be more livable.

Furthermore, Iwan also conveyed that the achievement of the one million house program in 2022, which has so far reached 460,269 units.

This achievement consists of 82 percent for MBR houses with 378,983 units and 18 percent for non-MBR houses with 81,286 units.

"Overall the financial progress of the Directorate General of Housing until June 28, 2022 is 38.02 percent, around Rp. 2.62 trillion from the 2022 budget allocation of Rp. 6.9 trillion and physical progress of 33.75 percent," said Iwan.
