JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Trade, Jerry Sambuaga, said that the availability of staple foods until Eid al-Adha was declared safe and sufficient.

"Indeed, there are still high prices for basic commodities such as chili, but in general the availability of all basic ingredients such as cooking oil, sugar, meat and chili is sufficient, including for Eid al-Adha, Alhamdulillah," said Jerry Sambuaga in a written statement, Wednesday, June 29. said the Ministry of Trade ensured the availability of staples and food through direct field visits.

"Every day we go directly to the markets, what is very important at this time is the availability of goods and later prices can be adjusted," said Jerry.

According to him, the aspect of the availability of goods is now better than before, because there are no more residents queuing to get basic commodities. Jerry asked all levels of government from the regions to also oversee the price and availability of goods, especially chilies, which currently have high selling prices. "The price of chili is indeed expensive, it's not only in West Sumatra but throughout the region, it's not cheap but let's control it together so that in the near future the price can be affordable again," said Jerry. He said monitoring or direct supervision steps to the market can map the actual situation of prices and goods. "By visiting directly, we can interact directly with traders and buyers, from traders it is also known what price they get from distributors," said the Vice Minister of Trade. Jerry also addressed the revitalization of markets in several areas in West Sumatra, including Fifty Cities, Agam and Bukittinggi.
