Good News For North Maluku Community, Local Transportation Agency Will Build 3 Piers Worth IDR 200 Billion At Several Port Points

JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov), North Maluku (Malut) through the Department of Transportation (Dishub) will build three representative docks at a number of port points to improve the economy of the North Maluku region.

"Currently, there are three ports that will be built, namely two points in the West Halmahera and Sofifi areas, so that they can stimulate the North Sumatran economy through sea transportation services," said Head of North Maluku Transportation Agency, Armin Zakaria, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, June 28.

The three-pier construction project through funds allocated by the Ministry of Transportation will start in 2023 with an estimated budget for the three docks at Rp200 billion.

He stated that his party will also coordinate with related institutions, especially regarding land issues, so that during development there will be no problems.

As for the two ports in West Halmahera Regency, there are no longer any problems, because the local government has acquired 7 hectares of land and various requirements from the Amdal have also been met.

Meanwhile, the ferry port for the Galala Sofifi-Ternate route, which was closed for several months, has been operating since 2022, because the process of working on the port infrastructure facility has been completed.

Head of UPTD Galala Ferry Port, Tamsil Ade, was contacted to say that the first service of this port was with the Baronang Ferry from Bastiong Ferry Port, South Ternate to Galala Ferry Port, arriving at 09.00 WIT.

"This ship crossing route has been added and from previously only four trips a day, now it has become seven trips for the inaugural service," he said.

In addition, said Tamsil, for the service from Dowora to Galala, which previously was twice a week, now it is four times a week. As for the Ferry Port service, it is open until 9 pm.
