JAKARTA - The plan to move the capital city of Indonesia to the capital of the archipelago in East Kalimantan will open up new opportunities for investors. One of them is an investor from Hong Kong.

"Our government's decision to move the capital city to IKN Nusantara opens up many opportunities for potential investors from Hong Kong," said Indonesian Consul General in Hong Kong Ricky Suhendar in a written statement quoted by Antara, Sunday, June 26.

According to him, investors from Hong Kong are interested in investing in infrastructure, transportation, housing, office buildings and other public facilities.

Indonesia's economic cooperation relationship with Hong Kong continues to improve in the midst of the economic downturn, energy and food crises that hit the world.

Throughout 2021, the realization of Hong Kong's investment in Indonesia is in second place under Singapore or up one rank compared to the previous year. Currently, Hong Kong's position is above China as the largest foreign investor in Indonesia.

"Therefore, the momentum of economic recovery in Indonesia and Hong Kong must be utilized as much as possible, both by Indonesian and Hong Kong entrepreneurs," said Ricky.

Previously, the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong, Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC), INTI Association, Indonesia Diaspora Network (IDN) China, and Indonesian Idepreneurs held a seminar entitled "Indonesia-Hong Kong Business Trends, Business Cooperation and Relaunch Post COVID-19 for National Economic Recovery".

In the seminar which was attended by around 100 business people from Hong Kong and Indonesia, Consul General Ricky said that the Indonesian government had carefully and measuredly begun to implement the transition phase of the pandemic to endemic, which allowed businesses and businesses to travel freely to and from Indonesia. without quarantine.
